Installation of Elka Engineered Flooring
The Elka engineered wood flooring offers a wide verity of colour options, in oiled and lacquered finishes to achieve great looks and style. Elka products are available in a thickness from 12 mm to 20 mm, which makes the brand suitable for most type of subfloors.
Firstly, it is essential to understand the conditions of the room where you plan to install your Elka engineered flooring. The ideal room temperature for installation is around 17 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity between 45-65% during both the acclimatization and installation process.
Ensure that doors and other items, such as furniture, in the room are properly covered or safely moved out. Verify that there is sufficient clearance for the opening and closing of doors once your new flooring is installed. It is important to note the maximum installation length, which is 12 meters in height and 8 meters in width.
If your room is non-rectangular or longer, you will need to allow for expansion joint immediately. These joints can also be used to separate different rooms. Avoid placing heavy objects, such as bookshelves, kitchen cabinets, and open fireplaces, on top of the Elka engineered wood floor. This is to prevent interference with the natural movement of the floor and to avoid gaps along the joints.
To preserve the beauty and quality of your Elka engineered flooring, consider using suitable protective pads under furniture legs and chairs. Additionally, place effective walk-off mats at all entrances to reduce moisture, grit, and dirt.
After installing your new engineered flooring, oiling it will enhance the room’s sense of fashionable comfort. Proper maintenance is crucial for long-term enjoyment. Regular surface treatment forms a protective film, making the floor easier to maintain by keeping dust and dirt away.
Sweep or vacuum the floor daily, and regularly wipe it with a damp cloth. For thorough cleaning, add wood floor soap to the water. This not only cleans your Elka engineered floor, but also forms a protective film that repels dust and dirt.
It is advisable to apply extra coat of oil on some Elka oiled engineered floors with the soap / or maintenance oil solution, ideally in the first 3-4 weeks after installation. Check with product recommendations. Avoiding water splashing directly on your Elka oiled engineered flooring is not advisable during this time.
