Nail-down or glue-down, the proper way to hardwood floor laying is dictated by the type of base and all our clients can rest assured we will take the right approach to it. FloorWorks use strong, health-friendly adhesives from Bona, Wacol and Mapei.
Our service comes with subfloor moisture levels testing, damp-proofing (if required) and all our floating installations, come with free advice on insulation and base levelling.
Our flooring services offer various types of laying methods depending on the product type. We do nail-down, glue-down and floating installation.
Secret nailing (nail-down) is highly recommended with solid wood flooring laid over wooden subfloors as it creates strong bond that can safely secure the contraction of the hardwood between seasons.

Local Project: Fitting Lacquered Oak Hardwood Planks in Wandsworth
When fitting solid hardwood flooring we also pay particular attention and care to any potential sources of moisture in the future because solid wood is extremely sensitive to it. Therefore, we always inspect the subfloor to ensure that it is safe and stable before wood floor is installed.
After securing and levelling the floorboards subfloor, we installed this beautiful solid oak flooring with the use of nailing. As always, a sufficient expansion gap was left between the wood and the walls of the room to allow for the natural expansion and contraction of the flooring. This solid wood planks were already prefinished with lacquer so there was no need for any additional varnishing. In cases where we install unfinished solid flooring, after the fitting the floors are lightly sanded and sealed with at least three coats of hardwearing varnish.
